We have kicked off our annual Pie/Dessert Fundraiser!  Students should have already brought home details and order forms. All orders and money are due Friday, October 8th and all money needs to be collected when orders are taken. You can also order online with a credit card by visiting and using the agreement code: QBNNVLEZDB.  Students will need to pick up their orders at the orchestra room between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16th.  If any parents would like to help with processing orders or sorting the delivery, please send an email to Ms. Eberly.  All extra help is always appreciated!

The Snowman Planning Meeting
Mrs. Rowan, the JMHS Choir Director, and Ms. Eberly would like to invite parents to a meeting on September 30th from 11:30-12:30 in the JMHS Orchestra Room to start planning our December performance of The Snowman.  This concert will be held on Saturday, December 11th and is an event which is open to the public to enjoy live music performed by our orchestra and choir while watching Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman.  Guests then move through a winter wonderland in our school hallways to the cafeteria for crafts, snacks, and a chance to meet Santa.  This event comes together with the help of our great parent volunteers.

If you can’t make it to this meeting, don’t worry – this is just to start the conversation and we will stay in touch with all parents about ways to volunteer after school hours for preparations, during the event, and through donations to help with this special activity! 

Field Trip to the Kennedy Center
We are excited to invite our students to attend an optional field trip to the Kennedy Center on Friday, November 12th.  The Orchestra and Choir programs will sponsor this school-approved, optional trip to hear the National Symphony Orchestra and piano soloists.  Please note that students will miss part of the school day as we will take charter busses to DC for this performance and have lunch while out; we will then arrive back at school after dismissal. Please see the paperwork that was sent home with your student for more information including cost, the full itinerary, required forms, chaperone opportunities, and vaccination requirements from the Kennedy Center.

Orchestra Boosters Meeting
The Orchestra Booster Board would like to invite all orchestra parents to our first booster meeting on Wednesday, October 6th at 7:00 p.m. at JMHS. Please note that masks will be required to be worn by attendees. We will make a video of the meeting available on this website after the event. We are in need of a volunteer to serve as secretary and a volunteer to serve as the fundraising chairperson for this year. If you would be interested in either position, or would like more information on the duties, please email Sonya Marsden. We also need of several volunteers for The Snowman performance on December 11th. Please consider helping out at this fun event.
